Day in the Life of Blake Risk |
I'm from a military family, so I started out in Spokane and then moved to New Mexico and then to Missouri. Since I always had to make new friends, moving around helped give me the confidence to talk to just about anybody.
My dad was a high school state champ. He wrestled in college too. He asked me if I wanted to try it out when I was little and I thougt, "sure, I'll give it a try". I fell in love with it. It has helped develop my work ethic and my self esteme, and how for I can push myself.
I had six schools to consider as a recruit. Half were in the midwest and half in the northwest. I prefered the northwest. And I really love the city of Great Falls; the trees, the woods and the mountains. The coaches played a big role, and their goals for the program. And they had the perfect bunch of guys on the squad. It's one family.
You get to see country you've never seen before and its a bonding experience. You learn about each other locked in a bus for 14 hours.
The coaches set the tone. Twice a week we have Study Tables, where we have to do our homework and study. Once it's wrestling season it's wrestling and studying.
I'll get my degree in business administration with a music minor. I want to work for a major music label and perhaps someday run my own label.
Hawthorn Heights. From First to Last is a great live band and Panic at the Disco; I love their vocals.
I've seen it like 200 times. My dad loves the movie. It was filmed in Spokane and I've wrested in the gym there.
I think it would be great to have a UGF college TV channel that highlights sports and student life. That would help show how much we are growing and changing.
