2008 UGF Women's Softball: Recent Recruit Signings Micaela Kurth, Meridian High School, Meridian, Idaho Casey Olson, Freeman High School, Valleyford, Washington Pitcher and infielder set to join the Lady Argo softball team in the fall GREAT FALLS, MT (Monday, March 17, 2008) — The University of Great Falls women’s softball team is excited to announce the signing of two student-athletes from Meridian, Idaho and Valleyford, Washington to NAIA Letters of Intent.
Micaela Kurth will be joining the Lady Argos in the fall of 2008 from Meridian High School in Meridian, Idaho where she currently is a middle infielder. Kurth was a 5A First Team All-Conference shortstop. The three-sport standout has a 3.88 grade point average (GPA) and in her spare time, she volunteers at her church and enjoys being around friends and family. She plans to major in Business Administration when she enrolls at the University of Great Falls in the fall.
“Micaela and I share a friend named Erin Peterson who played for me a few years ago and from day one I thought Micaela would be a great addition to our team. She will add depth to our middle infield and excitement to our program,” said UGF women’s softball coach Gary Ehnes.
The Lady Argos have also added Casey Olson, a pitcher from Freeman High School in Valleyford, Washington (located just outside of Spokane, WA). During the 2006-2007 season, she helped her team advance to the “18U Western B National Championship” game. Casey has been very involved at her high school as she currently is the Vice-President of her class and helps with the production of her school’s website. The Washington pitcher plans to study Psychology at the University of Great Falls.
“Casey brings many talents to our program and one of her greatest attributes is her tireless work ethic. She will be a welcome addition to the pitching staff where she can show off her great change-up,” said Ehnes.
Last week (Thursday, March 13, 2008), the Lady Argos added first baseman Jenna Rosenberg, a transfer from Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, Oregon, who is from Othello, Washington and catcher Desiree Clarke from Whitefish High School in Whitefish, Montana.
Jenna Rosenberg, Blue Mountain Community College, Othello, Washington Desiree Clarke, Whitefish High School, Whitefish, Montana Lady Argo softball signs two student-athletes to their roster for the fall GREAT FALLS, MT (Thursday, March 13, 2008) — The University of Great Falls women’s softball team is excited to announce the signing of two student-athletes from Whitefish, MT and Othello, Washington to NAIA Letters of Intent.
Jenna Rosenberg is from Othello, Washington and is currently a sophomore playing first base at Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, Oregon. The community college transfer will join the Lady Argos in the fall of 2008 with a 3.5 grade point average. She plans to major in Criminal Justice where she would like to become a juvenile officer. Some of her interests include fishing and camping and her favorite food is spaghetti.
“Jenna brings a strong bat and swings from the left side and caught my eye immediately. While visiting the University of Great Falls during her tryouts, she demonstrated extremely soft hands which are a valuable asset in the infield,” said UGF women’s softball coach Gary Ehnes.
The Lady Argos have also added Desiree Clarke, a 5’5” catcher from Whitefish High School in Whitefish, Montana. In addition to playing catcher, she also plays other positions for the Lady Bulldogs. She will be majoring in chemistry and biology intended for the medical profession. Desiree also played basketball at Whitefish High School and was her team’s 2007 Defensive Player of the Year and she also received All-State Academic honors. “Desiree represents another fine example of Montana’s small town athletes who comes with multi-sport and multi-position experience while maintaining a very high academic standard,” said Ehnes.
