NAIA Women's & Men’s Golf: Argo Update from Peter Yegen Golf Course: Rocky Mountain College Invitational

Rocky teams earn sweep; Lewis-Clark State gets second BILLINGS, MT – The Rocky Mountain College men’s and women’s golf teams are off to a fast start this year as they swept the team titles at the Rocky Mountain College Invitational at the Peter Yegen Golf Course in Billings that finished up on Monday. Both teams earned their third straight tournament title of the season.
The Rocky men defeated runner-up Lewis-Clark State by 29 strokes and won by 30 strokes over third place Montana Tech. Meanwhile, the Rocky women won by 50 strokes ahead of the Lady Warriors of Lewis-Clark State, which finished in second.
On Sunday, the conditions on the Billings course were wet but the teams were able to complete 36 holes of the tournament. On Monday, they finished the final 18 holes.
The Argo men and women continued to battle with the rest of the teams so far as the 2007 Fall Frontier Golf Season comes to an end. Phil Marra finished in 15th place individually for the UGF Men with a final score of 221 and he was closely followed by Big Fork native Chris Richter, who finished 23rd with a score of 223. Overall, the UGF men’s golf team finished in sixth place. Meanwhile, the UGF women didn’t have enough players for a team score but Butte native Emily Pfeifer finished in 20th place for the women with a score of 281 followed by senior Jennifer Johnson who finished the Rocky Invitational with a score of 293.
The conference champion will be determined in April after the five conference tournaments are completed. The final two tournaments will be held at Lewis-Clark State in Lewiston, Idaho and Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah in the spring.

2007 Frontier Conference: Final Results Monday, September 17 – Tuesday, September 18, 2007
HELENA, MT – The Rocky Mountain College men’s and women’s golf teams won their consecutive golf tournament of the fall season with wins at the Montana Tech Invitational Golf Tournament and the Carroll College Invitational tournament at the Bill Roberts Golf Course in Helena that wrapped up yesterday.
The University of Great Falls Men’s Golf Team finished in seventh place with a team score of 939. They were in fifth place going into the final day of action. The UGF women didn’t have enough athletes for a team score.
Phil Marra led UGF with a score of 229 followed by Chris Richter with a 223. Meanwhile, the women’s team was led by Jennifer Johnson with a 294 followed by Emily Pfeifer with 272.

2007 Frontier Conference: Final Results Sunday, September 9th – Monday, September 10, 2007
Fairmont Hot Springs Resort – The Rocky Mountain College men’s and women’s golf teams both won the Montana Tech Invitational Golf Tournament that was held this past Sunday and Monday at the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort.
The University of Great Falls women’s team finished in sixth place with 960 points while the UGF men’s team finished in eighth place with 1484.
Phil Marra led the men’s golf team with 220 while the women’s team was led by Jennifer Johnson with 320.
