Brian Clarke, Head Women's Soccer Coach

Seasons at UGF: 1st Season as Head Soccer Coach Brian Clarke is entering his first year as head coach of the University of Great Falls Women’s Soccer Team. He becomes the second head coach of the Lady Argos as they head into the program’s fourth season of competition this fall. He will inherit 14 returners from a squad that produced a 3-13 overall record and garnered the program’s first Frontier Conference victory last season. Brian comes to the University of Great Falls from the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota. The Newcastle, WY native played all four years at the University of Mary from 2002 through 2005. As a Marauder player, Brian was named team captain his senior year and was also named an NAIA All-American Scholar Athlete. He played defense and midfielder and helped his team advance to the NAIA regional playoffs during three of his seasons at the school. Brian’s team had a winning record during his four years of competing for the Marauders. After completing his playing career at the University of Mary, Brian stepped into the assistant coach’s role for the 2006 season. After just one season as an assistant, Clarke was promoted to the Head Coach position in January of 2007. The Marauders tallied a 4-13-1 record in a major rebuilding effort during Clarke’s first season. He has bachelor degrees in History Education and Social Behavioral Sciences Education. He is the son to Brenda and Gary Clarke and a brother to two sisters, Amy and Cami.
Jo Bowns, Assistant Women's Soccer Coach College: University of Montana
Seasons at UGF: 3rd Season as Assistant Soccer Coach Joanna Bowns begins her third year as assistant coach for the University of Great Falls soccer program. Bowns came from Missoula, where she served as both an assistant and head coach with the Missoula Strikers youth soccer club. She coached girls from ages under 14 through under 19 over the course of four years. She also coached 2 seasons with the Microstrikers organization. Bowns played collegiately at Portland State University (1997-1999) and the University of Montana (2000-2001). At Portland State University, Bowns appeared in 40 games, scoring 17 goals and had 8 assists. Bowns was named Offensive Player of the Week for the Big Sky Conference in 1998. In 1998 and 1999, Bowns was named to the Big Sky All-Conference 1 st Team and Big Sky All-Academic team. Bowns transferred to the University of Montana and appeared in 23 games for the Lady Griz. Bowns graduated from UM with a BA in psychology. She is currently taking classes at UGF to get her teaching certificate in elementary education and a second degree in history. Bowns holds her National ‘C’ coaching license from the United States Soccer Federation. |
