    Biographical Information

    Dr. Madson was born and raised in Great Falls (third generation). After high school, Dr. Madson was away from the community for 17 years going to school and working out of state. Dr. Madson is married to Christian, an RN in pediatrics at Benefis Hospital. They have two boys, Gunnar and Lars. They enjoy living here with the skiing, mountain biking, and fishing. In addition to teaching at UGF, Dr. Madson is also the director of the downtown redevelopment. He has been successful in acquiring over a million dollars in grant funds for various downtown projects. In his four-year tenure, Dr. Madson has been instrumental in the Central Avenue parking design and streetscape and has facilitated the redevelopment of numerous downtown buildings.

    Dr. Madson is quite active in city government and economic development, serving on the city-county planning board, land development committee, sign code committee, regional growth council, and historic preservation commission. Dr. Madson has been a competitive gymnast, ski racer, and mountain biker. Ski racing remains a current pastime. He has founded mountain bike polo clubs in Seattle, Portland, and now in Great Falls. His latest competitive endeavor involves auto crossing and driver's education events.

    Areas of Specialization

    Dr. Madson specializes in quantitative applications and strives to get students to see the world and problems/questions from a positivistic/empirical perspective.
