If your Student Aid Report (SAR) indicates you were selected for verification, or you received notification from our office, you must:
Print the Dependent Student Verification Worksheet or the Independent Student Verification Worksheet (as appropriate), complete, and return to the Financial Aid Office with a signed copy of student’s and parent’s (in case of dependent student) 2010 Federal income tax forms and all W-2’s.
Not all students are selected for verification. If you are selected, you must complete this process before your financial aid can be processed. Federal verification is the process by which the Department of Education verifies FAFSA information. About 30% of applicants are selected to complete verification. In this process, the financial aid office will be comparing information from the FAFSA with signed copies of the student’s (and parents’ for dependent students) tax forms, W-2’s, and other financial documents. If there are differences between the tax information and the FAFSA data, we will make corrections and notify the student in writing.
