Head Coach

Caleb Schaeffer enters his third year as the head coach of the Argonaut wrestling program. Coach Schaeffer took over the reigns of the Argo wrestling program after serving as the lead assistant for one season.

Coach “Schaeff” is no stranger to NAIA wrestling as he was a four time All-American at rival Montana State University – Northern. Schaeffer’s impressive collegiate career included individual finishes of 4th, 5th, and 5th in his first three years before culminating in a national championship finish during his senior year. Caleb’s national championship was a catalyst for MSU-Northern that year as they took home the team title as well. Caleb still holds the record for Most Wins (165) and Most Pins (85) in MSU-Northern history.

Caleb was a standout in the classroom as well twice earning NAIA All-American Scholar Athlete Awards. Coach Schaeffer was also the recipient of the Student Excellence Award, the most prestige award given to a student at MSU-Northern. He continues to lead by example in the classroom at UGF as he is working on his Master’s degree.

Fun Facts: As a child, Coach Schaeffer enjoyed the underappreciated past time of firewood chopping with his family. He excelled at the position of rounds stopper and has the scares to prove it. Due to these many scares, coach is no longer able to enjoy this family oriented activity.
