Gary Ehnes has accepted the position of Athletic Director. While his he oversees all the the athletic programs at the University of Great Falls, he still enjoys coaching softball. Gary began coaching the Argos as the Head Coach in 2004. Gary enters his first season as an assistant women's softball coach for the University of Great Falls. Gary will be assisting his daughter Joey and helping her with the transition to Head Coach. Gary has been a part of the softball community in Great Falls for over 20 years. He has coached softball at both Great Falls High and C.M. Russell High from 1992-2006. Between ASA and high school, he has over 200 wins, 2 state championships and one regional championship.
The Argos first season finished with a 3-13 record while improving to 14-17 during their second season which included nine Division I & II games. The 2007 season also watched the Argo softball team go 13-10 against NAIA opponents in only their second year. The Argo school win loss record is 17-30. 2007 was highlighted by going 2-0 against 12th ranked Simon Frazer while placing third baseman Jo Bailey on the NAIA ALL REGIONAL TEAM.
Gary grew up in Great Falls and graduated from Great Falls High School. While in high school, he played baseball for the Great Falls Electrics where he was the team batting champion and batting average record holder as he hit over .400 during the 1970-1971 seasons.
