Also the Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Steve Silsby enters his fifth season as the head coach for the men’s and women's golf programs at the University of Great Falls. The split golf season allows “Coach Sils” to fit in his basketball responsibilities between the golf seasons. Under Steve’s leadership, the golf program has seen consistent improvement. Coach Silsby and the team are looking forward to continued growth in the golf program.

Beard joins the golf team as an assistant coach this spring and brings a wealth of knowledge to the program. The local Head Golf Professional at Meadowlark Country Club for the past 25 years, Beard has also been a Class A member of the PGA for the same number of years. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Western Montana Chapter PGA and on the Board for the Pacific Northwest Section. Beard and his wife Tammy have been married for 25 years and have two children, Mathew and Natalie. Natalie is currently a member of the Lady Griz golf team at the University of Montana in Missoula. Beard played golf for the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where his father was the golf coach.
