Track Records Fall.
A small group of Argo athletes competed at Washington State University’s indoor facility on Saturday, January 14th, taking down the first school records of the year. Tyler Burns, a junior from Salt Lake City, opened up the high jump, breaking his own school record with a jump of 1.85m. Freshman David Reinhardt followed with a clearance of 1.90m (6-2.75), breaking the record for the second time in a day.

NAIA Spring Sports Scholar-Athletes Announced
Great Falls, MT – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the recipients of the 2011 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete award for this year’s spring sports. The University of Great Falls had nine student-athletes named to this honor for men’s and women’s track and field and softball. The UGF softball squad had five honorees while men’s and women’s track and field each had two, respectively. More>

Price Takes Sixth at NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships
Marion, Ind. – University of Great Falls mid-distance runner Travis Price ended his sophomore season yesterday with a sixth place finish in the 800 meter run at the 2011 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. Great Falls Track & Field Add Five Standouts
Great Falls, Mont. – The University of Great Falls head cross country and track and field coach Jim Brewer announced the signing of five standout student-athletes from around the region. The men’s program will add Alec Bofinger, David Reinhardt, Kristian Slater, and Ryan Rosenau, who all signed Frontier Conference letter of intents recently. Men's 4x800 Relay Team Qualifies for Nationals at Montana Open
Missoula, Mont. – It was another record setting weekend for the University of Great Falls track & field team as it competed in the Montana Open on Saturday. The team bettered six school marks and the men’s 4x800 meter relay qualified for the 2011 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. The team of Ander Jayo, Jimmy Sliwa, Travis Price and Austin Stuchell ran a time of 7:48.59 to punch their ticket to the national meet which will be held in Marion, Indiana May 26-28. More>

Great Falls' Bruce Qualifies for Nationals in the Marathon
Billings, Mont. – On Saturday, Rocky Mountain College hosted the second annual Battlin’ Bear Half-Marathon which was a national qualifying event for the marathon for the 2011 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. Not only did University of Great Falls sophomore Christina Bruce win the race, her time of 1:30:55 eclipsed the “A” qualifying standard by two minutes. More>

Argos Fare Well in First Outdoor Track & Field Meet
Spokane, Wash. – The University of Great Falls track & field team competed in their first outdoor meet of the season at Spokane Falls Community College on Saturday. The team set 11 new school records led by senior Petey Davis who set new standards in the long jump at 4.80 meters, the triple jump at 10.24, and the javelin with a throw of 24.54. More>

Price Finishes 6th At NAIA Nationals

Great Falls 4 x 800 Meter Relay Team Finishes 10th
Geneva, Ohio – The University of Great Falls indoor track team traveled four student-athletes to the GaREAT Indoor Sports Complex to participate in the 2011 NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships starting today. The UGF men’s 4 x 800 meter relay team consisting of Ander Jayo, Travis Price, Jimmy Sliwa, and Austin Stuchell (all sophomores) went into the competition ranked 12th in the nation. More>

4 x 800 Meter Relay Team Qualifies for Nationals
Pullman, Wash. – The University of Great Falls men's 4 x 800 meter relay team finished second overall today at the Washington State University Indoor Track and Field meet in a time of 7:58.37. The mark was under the NAIA National Meet qualifying time of 7:59.99, earning the team a spot to the national meet March 3-5 in Geneva, Ohio. More>

Frontier Annouces Cross Country Academic All-Conference
WHITEFISH, MT — Frontier Conference Commissioner Kent Paulson released the 2010 academic all-conference men's and women’s cross country teams today. To be eligible for the team, the student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in standing, maintain a 3.0 GPA and participate in one half of their team's games. MEN WOMEN

UGF Cross Country Gives to Local Youth
Great Falls, MT – It is the time of year for giving and thankfulness, however, the University of Great Falls cross country team did not feel it needed to wait until now to give to others. Head coach Jim Brewer heard of a young man who was recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and saw an opportunity to help someone in need. In October, the team decided to give half of their proceeds from the Harvest Classic 5k Fun Run to Sam Kolve. More>

Great Falls Men Take Second as Women Garner Fourth at FC Meet

Led by a strong performance by Brandi Eloff (Ephrata, WA), the Argo women placed fourth in a competitive field consisting of multiple Division II schools. Blue and Gold Fun Run Another Success
Great Falls, MT – The University of Great Falls cross country and track and field teams unofficially started the season with the fourth annual Argo Blue and Gold Fun Run held on the University’s campus. The morning’s event featured 164 participants and was well represented by student-athletes from almost every athletic program along with faculty, staff and community members. This year’s event was just 10 people short of breaking last year’s record of 174 participants. More>

Brewer Announces Key Addition To UGF Track Staff
GREAT FALLS, MT – University of Great Falls head cross-country/track and field coach Jim Brewer has announced the hiring of Paul Johnson as the university’s new Director of Track and Field. Johnson brings a wealth of experience to the Argonaut track and field program having coached every event for the past 32 years. He served as the head track and field coach at Stanwood High School in Stanwood, Washington from 1977 to 2009 as well as the head cross-country coach for Stanwood High School from 1981 to 2008. His vast knowledge of every event will not only be advantageous for the young Argonaut track and field team entering only its’ second year of existence, but will also be very beneficial for the existing coaching staff.
