The object of the minor in accounting is to provide students who do not intend to major in accounting with the basis for understanding the role accounting plays in the business world today.
The objective of the accounting track in the masters of Master of Science in Organizational Management is further the students understanding of both accounting and management and to provide students with the ability to obtain the needed credits for licensure.
The curriculum offered attempts to blend the conceptual and practical. Exposure to the underlying conceptual framework of accounting provides a basis of dealing with emerging accounting issues, while examination of technical pronouncements enables students to gain insight into practical issues encountered in an accounting environment. The curriculum strives to foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

The degree programs offered at the University will prepare the student for a wide variety of jobs available in the business world. Students will receive the skills needed to seek professional certifications to work in the public accounting fields, as well as private industry, including not-for-profit and government entities. The certifications that the students will qualify to seek are the Uniform CPA Exam, which will aid them in careers in both public accounting, and in private industry. Students who do not wish public certification will also have the necessary credentials to seek certifications such as; CMA (Certified Management Accounting), CFM (Certified in Financial Management), and CIA (Certified Internal Auditor).
The program at the University of Great Falls offers the student an opportunity to studying accounting from faculty who have experiences in the field of study and bring to the classroom real life examples of the accounting principals.
