Dr. Coggins formerly taught middle and high school mathematics. Currently he teaches for cognitive psychology applied to learning, methods in elementary mathematics, applied statistics in a healthcare context, and has taught fundamentals of quantitative and qualitative research, methods in elementary science, and introduction to education. He has presented and published in neurolinguistics, and mathematics and computer education.
